Design 2608 Ocean Going Tug Conversion

Itasca is an 175' ocean going tugboat that was converted to a yacht. Purchased by former Secretary of the Treasury William E. Simon, she was purchased with the intent to convert her to a yacht and attempt the Northwest Passage. Here is a profile comparison between her original configuration and her transformation into a yacht.

And finally here's a nice shot during transit of the Northwest Passage. In 1994, she was the first recorded yacht to make an eastbound transit successfully, completing the trip in 23 days.
